Jean DAULLÉ (Abbeville 1703 - Paris 1763) "Les amusements de l'Hiver" Original etching and engraving from a subject by Francois Boucher, fourth panel of the Seasons series dedicated to Madame de Pompadour first owner of the paintings, printed and published by Daullé himself to his address on rue du Platre St. Jacques in Paris. Beautiful copy printed on laid paper bearing the "Great crowned eagle" filigree typical of French paper production of the 18th century, complete with the imprint of the plate and with margins of different sizes, slightly burnished and with a tear partially recomposed on the left side, in the complex in excellent condition. The original paintings of Boucher, dated 1755, were originally part of the Madame de Pompadour collection and were born with the function of an over door, the first change of hand occurred at the death of the favorite of Louis XV in favor of the Marquis of Marigny, various other passages they followed in public sales until 1904 when the series of the four currently owned by Madame Ridgway was sold for 360,000 Francs, today they can be admired in the rooms of the Frick Collection in Manhattan New York. Bibliography: Delignères "Catalog raisonné de l'oeuvre gravé de Jean Daullé d'Abbeville, Paris, 1873" pag. 78 No. 105. LeBlanc "Manuel de l'Amateur d'Estampes" Paris 1856 vol.2 page 97 n ° 17-20. Roux “Inventaire du Fonds Francais” Paris 1949 volume VI page 115 n ° 120.
